So what do we do about the advancing army?

there aren't many options... flee, hold them off, or go headlong into battle. or, hope they change their minds.

*Nods* Of course we have to defend Rivendell. If we help Lord Elrond, maybe he will send some of his warriors to accompany us.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.. Hang on a minute, before we all start panicking.
Isn't Rivendell a protected place?
An orc army wouldn't dare attack.....would they?

Not orcs alone. If the Nazgul are with them they will attack for sure.

This place is guarded by Elven enchantments. If an orc army, the Nazgul or anyone else for that matter tried to attack us they would be swept away by the rivers on either side.

You never know what might happen. They may not be heading for Rivendell. They may be heading for somewhere nearby. But then again they might be heading here.*puts away what he got out*You never know what might happen until it happens.I think we should prepare just in case they are heading here.

that's true, but what if luthien's right, and they are headed elsewhere? if rivendell isn't in danger, another place undoubtedly is. what can we do about that, could we find out?

*apearing as if out of nowhere* we could ask a ravin, or other animal to find out for us, and bring us news.

*Starts to think*Ask an eagle to tell the Lord of the Eagles to check it out.I think that might work.

*Lord Elrond interrupts the group*
It is highly unlikely that this Uruk-hai army would attack Rivendell . There is no reason for an attack. We hold no Seeing Stones here and it would be folly on the part of the enemy to attempt to cross the Bruinen Ford.
*Thinks for a moment, eyebrows deeply furrowed*
Tell me, where exactly did you encounter this army?

no, i personaly cant speak to birds, but ravens r quite easy to figure out. the great egles can speek to us better, good thinking aragorn.
well if they arnt going to atack, we should at least find out where they r headed, just a percausinary mesure.

I do not trust crows, they are birds of ill-omen and probable allies of the Dark Powers.
*Turns to face Lord Elrond and speaks loudly so everyone at the council can hear.*
We met the Uruk-hai army just past Bree on the East-west Road. They were heading east. I think there were about 150 of them.

they started to attack us on sight, naturally, and we outstripped them fairly easily... *bites her lip.* i still wonder why. though i suppose uruk hai aren't all that swift... i was a little afraid they may have followed us, though really, they would not be easily defered from their mission. whatever it be... *looks up at elrond.* only, what of who they are attacking? should we help them? *looks around again.* who maight they be attacking, anyway?
