Shall we take them back inside now? I think they've had enough grass for one day.

*darkie starts for a mouthfull of grass in retaliation; grips him by the scruff of the neck and pulls him back.* since when did you learn this language? *grins and lets him go, as he is straining. he flops forward, looking indignant. he seems to decide he doesn't want anymore to eat, and trots himself inside. rose clambers to her feet too, and firebird goes to rouse the elder sheep.*

*Opens up the barn door as Firebird walks behind them, keeping them moving. Gives them fresh water and several piles of sweet meadow hay before locking them in for the night* Namarie mama! (Farewell sheep!)

*trudges down from the barn.* luthien, i think you had a point when you said the ewes might be in lamb. unless heather's just getting old, she seems slower and rounder than the others.

Yes, I've been thinking that. We'll have to keep a close eye on her.

*pats Rose good night as she snuggles up with heather and darkie sleeps in one corner. Kessa grins and shakes her head then trots down to the others* Cya tomorrow! *she walks out of the barn*

*it is late morning on a rather grey, cloudy day with impending rain. some very distant rumblings of thunder can be heard at intervals, and firebird is trudging through the field, which is muddy from an earlier downpour. a bale of fresh hay is under her arm and she is hurrying to get inside before she is caught in the rain with a sopping hay bundle.* fine day we're having... *pushes the barn door open with a creek and goes in, shaking off the musty feel of outside's air. steps over loose clumps of hay, and deposits the bale safely in a corner for when the current load runs out. as the water in the trough is empty, lights the lamp on a shelf near the door, and buckets some fresh water from a barrel in a corner into the trough. looks around, accounting for all the sheep.* morning, guys and gals... heather, hotdog... rose, where are- there you are... dark- oh, hang on. *frowns and lifts the light to she can see into the dim barn better.* darkie, where's darkie? *puts the lamp back, worried. darkie is nowhere to be seen.* oh great. this i need... *goes to close the door after her, but rose and hotdog, eager to get out follow before she can shut it, and heather follows at a slight distance.* oh, fine, come along. *pulls her cloak on more securely and trudges around the side of the barn with the sheep clustered around her. with still no sign of the black fleeced lamb, they set off away from it. before going, though, firebird quickly scrawls a note and wedges it on the barn door between a couple of splinters. gone to find darkie; flock is with me, for exercise. ~fire *they head off from the barn again. the first few drops of rain of the storm begin to splatter the already wet ground.*

ooc- nice description Firebird.
*Runs into the barn, with her head bowed against the wind and rain she fails to see the sign on the door and stands by the pen in confusion wandering where the flock has gone. Listens to the rain battering the roof of the barn.* Firebird can't possibly have let them out.....
*Returns to the door to look out over the grey landscape and spots the sign, now rather sodden. The writing has run and it is barely legible but it is obvious that Firebird has gone somewhere with the sheep. Puts up her hood and begrudgingly steps outside into the rain, following Firebirds footprints through the mud down towards the pasture.

(ta!) *out in a full-blown rainstorm, fire is kinda having a hard time. turns and looks at the sheep increduously; they don't seem to mind the wet.* happy, you lot? we're no closer to finding darkie and we'll probbly drown if we stay out much longer. *sighs, pushing a sopping fringe away from her forehead.* come on, i'm taking you back, frech air or no. *starts to pace in the direction they came. hotdog and rose scurry along with her, though heather takes her time. *several minutes later, looks back to make sure all three are present, and notices heather is lagging behind and barely distinguishable from the swirling haze of raindrops around her. groans and jogs back to her.* c'mon, now, heather... come along, girl... *heather sinks to her knees in the gooey mud. she looks very fatuiged.* heather? *is growing concerned. a rumble of thunder makes itself known, and it's not as distant as before. tries to help heather up, but the ewe lets out a painful bleat and seizes up.* oh no... *shakes her head in disbelief.* no no, not now, of all times... *glances back to make sure hotdog and rose havem't strayed; thankfully, they're still there, the lamb huddling by the ram, who is attempting to graze. fixes a stare on the heaving ewe, almost certain of the worst. is altogether unsure how to deal with this, but reckons she must at least get the sheep inside. with a grunt, heaves her up and starts to trudge back to the barn, carrying her. *passes rose and hotdog.* come on, you two! huthut! *they follow her, now a tad apprehensive of the storm. squints through the rain, almost able to make out a human-like form in the distance. hopes desperatley the barn isn't far off.*

*Runs towards Firebird. She heard the distressed cries of Heather some way off and immediately knew something was wrong.*
Firebird! I you alright to carry her? The barn isn't much further.
*The wind has pushed back her hood and her hair has stuck to her face. She tries to hurry the other sheep along, placing a firm hand on their backs. But they are reluctant to head into the rain and turn sideways, bowing their heads. They see the barn and scamper on ahead, running stiff-legged towards shelter and food. Shuts them back in their pen.*
We'll have to make a seperate pen for Heather.
*Drags out some more fencing and binds it together with twine. Her hands are cold and fumble with the string. Water drips of her hair. Fills the pen with a bale of straw, shaking it out to create a nice, deep bed.*
Okay put her in. I'm going to head up to the stables to fetch a few things we might need. You stay here and sit with her.

*tenderly lifts heather over the fencing and sets her down in the soft hay. the sheep lies on her side, sweating and shaking, and firebird flops down on the other side of the pen, stroking heather's fleece through the fence comfotingly everyone in a while. *tries to take deep breaths, and continually pushes strands of dark hair away from her face. cringes slightly as she remembers.* oh, no, darkie's out in that... *the thunder sounds a little too close for comfort, and doesn't wait long to let itself be known after lightning forks the sky. *currently can't exactly do anything but wait for luthien and look after heather.*

*Returns with an armful of towels*
How is she?
*Kneels down next to the sheep and gently rubs a towel over her face and ears. Feels her fleece.*
Her skin is actually dry underneath, it's only the outer layer of wool that is wet.
*Rubs down her legs then sits back in the straw*
All we can do now is sit and wait.

What a drastic change in weather. Heard that darkie is missing. Found him yet?

*Kessa comes in, her hood tight around her head. Kessa is pale and dripping wet. She looks around and sees Hotdog and Rose huddled together to keep warm. She feels slightly sick from the rain and looks around for Darkie* Out there? *without waiting for an answer, Kessa turns, her cloak pulled tighter, and leaves to look for him*
