Hm. Kinda wondering about that too.
In Sindarin it's called Hadhafang, in Quenya, Sangahyando, and 'Throng-cleaver' in common speech. I don't get it either.

Quite simple. Hadhafang (Arwen's sword) was first made for Idril Celebrindal, an elven princess who also chose a mortal life (she's also related to Elrond. Grandma, I guess). Elrond used the sword at the battle when Isildur cut the one ring from Sauron's finger. The sword has an inscription on it which reads, "For the noble maiden Indril..." The pun is that the Elvish word for 'noble maiden' is Arwen, making it Arwen's destiny to inherit the sword... Odd...

Hm. I see. It's more of an inside joke though, huh?
New riddle!
I bump into a man who I immediately recognize as my long lost uncle, yet I have never seen him or a picture of him before in my life. How do I know who he is?

Thank you, Rhi. And, er, good try, Witchy.
I was sent to meet three people that I had never seen before. I knew immediately without asking which one was called Roger. How?
(No, there were no name badges, WK. ;D)

because...... they were your internet friends and through long conversations on instant messenger you knew that Roger had ginger hair because he'd described himself in great detail to you. And even on the eve of your meeting he had reminded you of this fact: Looking forward to seeing you for the first time Don't forget I'm ginger unlike my two friends who are dark haired, and I will be wearing orange.. Okay I'm waffling.

Yes you are. Next time lucky, though.
This is a lateral thinking problem. The answer is very simple.
(No... I didn't get it the first time...)
