hm, i always thought that was called stippling. or maybe that's just when you shade with dots or something. but i know what you mean, one of the more famous ones was a beach scene, painted over a few years. (i forget the artist. i would.)

i think the most famous one is the one with the ballerina looking person in the circus. i don't know what it's called or who painted it but, yeah.

i don't know that one... the only piece i remember with ballet dancers is an impressionism.
