*Too preoccupied searching for the little boy Hamnet's father, as well as picking up the odd piece of firewood as she goes, Imrel doesn't notice the man approach Elessar. Giving up, with Hamnet fast asleep on her back and an armful of firewood, Im returns drearily to the section of the camp where Eowyn and Rhiannon are.*
It's a good thing we stopped. There are dark clouds, soon there would have been no dry wood for fire.
*Drops her load and carefully lowers the sleeping boy.*
Hamnet should probably stay here for now. Perhaps his father will turn up with the new light.
*Gently takes him in her arms and to the nearest tent.*

He freezes in his steps as a dark figure moves towards Elessar. That man could have breezed past him and not noticed it; he did not know. He was aware of the weight of his close-contact weapons hanging by his side, but his pike was more preferable at this point of time. Drawing his scarlet cloak closer around him, he steps further back into the cover of the trees and shadows.
"Both of them should know", he murmurs, his voice covered by the slight rustlings of leaves. Winds were building up before a storm, and the disturbance amongst the trees it created made him glad. Sounds made business like this easier.

*Jumps to his feet drawing his sword, slightly perturbed that the stranger had managed to penetrate their ranks so easily. Lost in his thoughts he had been caught off guard and he cursed himself silently. He ran into the trees after the figure, catching a glimpse of his blue cloak fading into the darkness. An ill wind stirred the trees, overhead the boughs creaked and moaned, straining against the force of it, bending them to it's will. He moved forward slowly, more cautiously, waiting for the turbulence to die down.*

Eowyn strokes Hamneth's hair and whispers, "Sweet dreams, child of Rohan," to the young boy.
"How long shall it take to reach Helm's Deep?" Eowyn asks Rhia and Imrel. "The children are beyond weary. Poor Neola today nearly fell of the horse if a soldier helping out didn't catch her!"
"And I feel as if we're being followed... Though it could be my superstitions and the mood about us..." she adds.

You're not the only one with that feeling. I too am uneasy, as are many of the citizens...
*Sits down wearily before the small campfire that has been assembled, blowing gently to encourage the glowing embers.*
With luck the journey should not be too long. If only half of the traveling party did not have such short legs.
*Smiles feebly.*

*Leaps to her feet and rushes to the Rohirrim, alarmed at his condition.*
The King of Rohan is leading us on our journey, he can be found at the head of our procession. Come, I will take you to him.
*Starts onwards along the edge of the Rohirrim camp, motioning for the stranger to follow. Reaching the end, she calls out.*
King Theoden! A man has arrived who claims he must speak with you.

"Orcs on the borders?" Éowyn wonders. "Théoden King can be found somewhere near the camp. I'll have to stay here and make sure no trouble arises further."
She notes that the fire is burning well enough, and checks upon Hamnet to make sure he is still sleeping...

*King Theoden scowled at the sound of Imrels voice. He'd just got comfortable beside the fire and warmth was returning to his hands and feet. He ached all over from a day in the saddle - a sharp reminder that he wasn't getting any younger. With a great effort, he struggles to his feet, pulling his fine robe tightly around him.*
This had better be of importance..

*Returns to the others sitting around the fire. He had lost the stranger amongst the trees and had not pursued him. The sound of rapidly approaching hoofbeats had hastened him back. Either they were under attack or someone brought important news. Both possibilities filled him with a sense of foreboding. Emerging in the clearing he instantly spots the horsemen whose appearance suggests he has been in a fight. Stands on the edge of the circle and awaits his story.*

*Elessars expression becomes grave as he hears the news. He looks to King Theoden for a reaction but can not judge what he is thinking. Turns his attention back to the dishevelled rider.*
How many?
