well there is that I suppose but it's about presents innit and telling kids there's no such thing St Nick and getting drunk and making a fool of yourself in front of half of mordor..

You would see it that way, Aulus, you're a pesimist. There are some people out there who enjoy spending time with family and celebrating holidays, however tacky they are.

Eowyn smiles for a moment, just wondering over how this Christmas would be spent.
"In Edoras, we always decorate a huge Christmas Tree right in the middle and everyone comes out to help decorate it. Horses too!" she giggles at the thought of King Theoden's horse knocking the tree over last year, but doesn't mention it.
"Once the decorating is done, all the presents are packed and put under the tree. The stables get decorated with mistle toe and pine, just like the houses." the maiden from Rohan explains.
"Then in the morning, we would all wake up and open the presents and be with our kin for the afternoon feast. There would be dishes from all over Middle-Earth, including my favorite Edoras apple cake..."

::Lo sighs and shakes her head:: Aulus, being happy on the holidays is like being happy any other time. You just have to do what you have to do, and not let them hold you back. Hiding from reality in that... smoke ::she gags on that word and scowls:: isnt healthy or right, AND I would also like to add that everyones family drives them nuts.

"Alas! I will not be going back to the lands of Rohan for this Yule," Éowyn says in a quiet voice. "However, Éomer and our parents shall hopefully be together. I have been running around in many places lately and need some time with them."
The shield maiden then looks at Aulus. "Don't worry, I'm sure that you'll do something special. Sometimes family does go a bit too far. Séomela can sure get nothing short of annoying. She even puts Christmas wreaths around horses'necks. A little farfetched, no doubts!"

Eowyn hears Aulus' comment, deciding on the fact that a person could use some time alone but that they need some people they can trust (especially family) to live. A mix of both was probably the best.
She pours herself some more Edoras herbal tea and watches the snow fall outside through the window...

Well if you want my opinion ( and you probably dont ;D)
I think it's supposed to be a special day right? so I think you should make the effort. I'm sure everyone can manage to tolerate their family and relatives for just one day. Spending it on your own is sad, you can spend any other day on your own and by doing so you will probably make others unhappy.
