'Hey, yeah!' Imrel got an excited look on her face. 'Maybe it represents the type of rock, or whatever it is, that's founds there, in the mountains. It could be valuable- durable, at the very least, seeing as how it's lasted in there without crumbling...'
The young Ranger began to dig fervently through her pack, rumaging around for something. 'Sort of... sewn in place of... an "X" to mark the spot... Here, I think I've got a spare phial in here we can put the stone in for safe keeping...' Still rooting around, she glanced to to ElvenStar. 'Any idea what it could be, Elv?'

Elv held out her hand and tilted her head at Im. Do you think maybe I could hold it? She also nodded to Grubby. It is the mountains but that was under no other mountain then Caradhras... She shuddered slightly at the name, the mountain was known to be utterly dangerous and huge.

'Oh lovely,' said Imrel, giving her knowing sort of 'trouble ahead' grin. 'That place has "adventure" written all over it. Hand her the stone, would you Grubs...' And she recommenced searching her pack.

Grubby handed the rock to Elv and snorted at the mention of Caradhras [i/]
Oho... not the sort of adventure many come back from though. Never been over, but Redhorn has a bad name as fer under.. I've no mind to search the lower levels, more than dark down there lots of water it's all flooded.
Grubby had never been further into Moria than the bits still habited by her kin, but she had heard stories.. the lure of mithril still drew people to go where they shouldn't. There were things hidden in the dark that were best left that way.

Imrel peered at Grubby with some degree of surprise etched into her features. 'I suppose it must be rather unpleasant to ward away a tough orc like you Grubs.' She looked between the other two somewhat incredulously. 'But that's not going to stop us seeing where the map leads, is it?' (Sometimes the young Ranger was too adventurous for her own good.)

Ok fair 'nuff but if we meet some of the locals I'll pretend not to know you so i don't get et.
Grubby grinned. It probably wouldn't help though Mordor was supposed to be allied with the northern orcs in theory but there was no love lost between them and Grubby alone and outnumbered would make an easy meal.

'Your unshakeable loyalty astounds me,' chortled Imrel, looking up from her bag to glance at Elv, wondering what she made of the stone. 'Anyway Grubs, don't feel obliged to come. But we wouldn't let anything happen to you if we could help it.'

Elv was studying the stone rather closely. She couldn't exactly figure out what it was but she could tell it had surely been cut out of a larger stone. She moved the stone around in her hand.
"Well Im, I m sure I haven't seen this type of stone before. And about all I can figure out about it is it has to be worth something to someone." She held her hand out to give the stone back to Im. "No one would take the time to map out a route to Caradhras and much less under it for a stone that means nothing. Do you mean to go find where this map leads?"

Imrel finally produced a tiny crystal phial with a flourish. 'But of course,' she exclaimed, accepting the stone and slipping it gently into the bottle. 'Provided I can find the means. And perhaps if a steadfast travel companion or two come along for the ride.' She glanced up at Grubby and Elv with a hopeful smile spreading demurely on her lips.

hmm got probable peril and possible treasure on the one hand and more peril...
pike drill shouldn't be dangerous but the ever lovely Sarge had given her the most incompetent maggots ever spawned.
and definite wages on the other which I would lose at dice or spend on booze...I'm in
She shrugged and wondered if anyone had asked for paid leave and what had happened to them if they did.
One question though, how are we getting there? I heard there were good roads under the mountains from Gundabad to Isengard way, long time ago though before all this kicked off you know the war an' all. May not be kept as well as they used to be and may not be watched as well as they used to be too, it'd be quick an' safer than some other ways.

Elv thought about this trip while Grubby was talking. She knew the trip would lead her in the opposite direction of where she had been heading but she didn't really care. She hadn't wanted to go where she was going any how.
If you two are up to the trip I'm willing to go. Although the three of us traveling together is sure to catch some attention, and it will more then likely be unwanted attention. Especially if we are passing near Isengard ...

'Well, that's what cloaks with hoods are for,' Imrel told her, whipping her own hood over her head with a flourish and casting her face in shadow. 'The road passing Isengard seems the most sensible- the most direct, from where we are...' Her eyes fell again to the map stretched out on the rock, and her finger idly traced a path. The bird-shaped compass rose stood out in the corner of her eye.
'We'll need horses, of course,' she said abruptly. Rudy was lodged in the stable at present; she had been treading the roads of Rohan on foot. 'And weapons, especially if we end up going subterrain.' And judging by the position of the stone granule in the map, into the heart of Caradhras seemed to be the most likely place they were headed. 'I wonder what really lies there,' she murmured, almost to herself. Demons in the dark, a sinister voice in her head answered her.

I wouldn't say unwanted, some of em' Isengarders are pretty good looking..
She grinned and nudged Elv in the ribs. The elf didn't seem to find that terribly funny, so Grubby turned to listen to Im.
Horses? what like to ride on?
Grubby asked a little anxiously. She'd never ridden before, the only horses she'd been near were a few ill tempered baggage ponies and the Witch kings mount which had bit her.

Imrel bobbed her head up and down. 'It'll take us ages to walk it,' she reasoned. 'Or I dunno, Grubby, d'you have access to a Winged Beast?' She grinned as she slipped the bottle containing the stone into a compartment of her bag. 'That'd be even quicker.'

ah yeh I'll just ask Witchy 'can I borrow your winged fell beast to go on some a little holiday with a ranger and an elf?' I'm sure he'll let me, he wouldn't do anything tight, like feed me to it for suggesting it be seen this side of the river.
Grubby unnecessarily rolled her eyes. She didn't want to admit she couldn't ride, anyway it couldn't be that hard could it?
