Yea, I will. I wanna see how many people embarrass themselves before the answer comes to light. Alright. I'm mean. Merry? LoL. That'd be amusing.

For the love of Pete, no one is posting!!!
It's one of the most common riddles around. It happened to be the first one in my new puzzle book. Speaking of which...
During World War II, a sentry is guarding the bridge over a ravine between Germany and Switzerland, on the German side. He comes out of his watchmans hut every three minutes to survey the bridge. He has been ordered to turn anyone without a pass back where they came from, and shoot anyone trying to escape over the bridge.
A woman wanting to flee Germany approaches the bridge. She doesn't have a pass, and is unable to get one, and she knows that she won't be able to cross the bridge in three minutes because it would take about five. How can she get to Switzerland over the bridge?
Another puzzle from the book, ranked moderately difficult. The answers pretty clever, and it takes all of the information given into account. Have a go at this one if you don't feel like working on the elevator one.

I swear I've never heard this one before... at least probably not in the last 8 years.
Lemme see. The woman walks onto the bridge... see, if she has to take five minutes, by three minutes' time she'd be more than halfway across. So when the watchman catches her, she tells him that she'd from Germany... So he makes her go "back" to Germany... when in fact she's from Switzerland.
Er... I'm not sure.
--edit--
To make her act more convincing... she turns around and starts walking in the opposite direction, towards Switzerland, when it's almost three minutes, so the guy thinks she's heading for Switzerland...
Okay. Maybe that was unnecessary.

You're right, except you got the locations muddled. She's trying to get to Switzerland. And yes, after three minutes, when the guard comes out, she turns and starts to walk back to Germany. When the guard sees she has no pass, he will turn her away and she will have to cross the bridge to Switzerland.
I'll post another one tomorrow.

I almost failed Geog, it's no surprise...

It's another bridge problem!
A woman is running away from a gang of bandits who are after the two solid gold balls she is carrying. She comes to a long, wooden bridge. A sign by the bridge states that it will hold no more than 112 lbs. The woman weighs 100 lbs and each ball weighs 10 lbs. She has no time to leave one ball behind and come back for it. Yet she makes it across the bridge with both golden balls. How did she do it?

That's a hard one!
Did she perhaps throw them?

No, the bridge is too long for that, but you're on the right track.

She rolled one of them then ran across with the other?

What about juggling them? ;D
Okay, bad approach to it!

Hey, I think that's a great guess. It's very likely that she juggled them, you know. In fact, now I recall hearing something similar a long time ago.
Hmm. I think Eowyn's right. Or very close.

She is! Way to go, Eo!
I'd post another one, but I'm currently too tired to find my book. Maybe someone could work on the five hundred or elevator puzzle, or post another, until I do.

No? Oh well.
Why are 2003 pennies worth more than 1997 pennies?
